The election of the Student Union for the academic year 2016-2017 was held on 14th September. “Nexus”, the proposed SU cabinet this year, was put to a test by a democratic election. Our principal, Mr. Iu Kwong Chi, casted the first vote in this election during the morning assembly. The majority of the staff and students also voted throughout the day.

Without a competing cabinet, there was only a choice between voting for “confidence” or “no confidence” on “Nexus”. In the end, “Nexus” won the election by securing more than 80% of votes for “confidence”.

Launched in 2010, the SFXC Mentorship Scheme aims to tap the invaluable resources amongst our alumni to complement the efforts of the SFXC teaching staff in facilitating the all-round development of Xaverians. Thanks to the unfailing support and participation of our alumni and students, we have recruited a lot of mentors and mentees to join this meaningful platform throughout the years, passing on the Xaverian spirit.

This year, we would like to enhance and expand the scheme. Alumni are invited to take part in one or more of the following:

• become a mentor of the Mentorship Scheme to the current F4-5 students for 1~2 years
• be a guest speaker at the Career Expo on 10 Dec, 2016
• provide a 1-day job-shadowing opportunity for F4-5 students during school holidays

Right after the school opening Thanksgiving Mass on 1st September, an award presentation ceremony was held to recognize the effort of our outstanding performers in HKDSE 2016. Together, we had 11 F.6 graduates attaining 5** in various subjects. 8 of these top performers attended our ceremony. All 11 of them were awarded scholarships funded by the SFXC Foundation. The representative of the Foundation, Mr. Patrick Ko, also an old boy, was with us to honor the top performers and to present them the awards on stage.
