Water Rocket Competition

On July 7th July 2016, the Water Rocket Competition was held in the school playground as a post-examination activity for all the F. 2 boys. They first attended a lecture learning all the fundamental physics principles behind rocketry. Then they were put in groups of 4 to5 students. Each group of students had to design their own water rocket that would propel as far away from the ground as possible based on what they had learned. The whole point of this activity is to raise students’ interests in science and encourage them to put “Science Technology Engineering Mathematics” (STEM) into application. Despite the hot weather, all the participating students and teachers really enjoyed the fun and the water splashing. Below are the names of the winners of the event.

Study Trip to Shanghai 2016

With the aim to provide a glimpse of the national state of China, the Unified Association of Kowloon West organizes study trips to various parts of China annually. This year, the destination for the visit was Shanghai. Around 130 students from the Yau Tsim Mong district, including 10 from SFXC headed by the principal himself, took part in this event.

Though the trip encountered a minor setback by a 7-hour flight delay in the departing trip due to poor weather, the rest of the trip went smoothly. The group visited various landmarks in Shanghai, included the National Art Museum of China and the newly established Disneyland. The students also had exchange experience with students in esteemed institutes such as the Fudan, Tongji and Shanghai Jiao Tong University. On 1st July, our Xaverians also got the opportunity to visit and had exchanges with Bei Hong Senior High School (formerly the St. Francis Xavier’s College of Shanghai).

All students returned safely on 4th July with fond memories to savor for years to come.
