On November 8, 2025, a group of 20 Form 4 students had the unique opportunity to visit the Haven of Hope Hospital as part of its 70th anniversary Open Day celebrations. Accompanied by our esteemed alumnus Dr Yuen Ka Ye (Class of 1989), the Hospital Chief Executive of Tseung Kwan O Hospital & Haven of Hope Hospital, the students gained valuable insights into the operations of a facility dedicated to caring for patients with long-term illnesses.
The tour provided an extensive overview of the hospital's various departments and the exceptional care offered to patients. Dr Yuen shared his knowledge and experiences, highlighting the importance of compassion in healthcare. A particularly impactful aspect of the visit was the life and death education module that he arranged, which included a sensitive visit to the morgue. This component aimed to help students understand the complexities and emotions surrounding end-of-life care and the significance of supporting both patients and their families during challenging times.
Overall, the event was both educational and profound, allowing students to appreciate the dedication and commitment required in the medical field. Many remarked on how the visit deepened their understanding of healthcare and inspired them to consider future careers in medicine. The experience reinforced the value of empathy and resilience in facing life's most challenging moments.
