On 6 November 2025, we were honoured to welcome back our distinguished alumnus, Dr. Samuel Chui Ho Kwong, JP, Director of Environmental Protection, from the class of 1982, who delivered an inspiring talk to our Form 4 students during the Form Assembly.
Dr. Chui shared his valuable experience in the fight against COVID-19, including how his team employed innovative strategies such as sewage surveillance testing to monitor and control the spread of the virus. His insights offered students a behind-the-scenes look at how science, teamwork, and public service came together to protect communities during a global crisis.
He also gave students a glimpse into the natural beauty and ecological richness of the Chinese Mainland, offering reflections from the perspective of environmental protection. Through this, he encouraged students to appreciate the importance of sustainability, conservation, and the harmonious relationship between humans and nature.
Of course, as a proud Xaverian, Dr. Chui fondly recalled his school days at SFXC, and took a heartfelt moment to thank his former teacher, Mr. Yuen, for inspiring him on his journey of public service and environmental advocacy.
We are deeply grateful to Dr. Chui for returning to his alma mater to share his passion, wisdom, and stories.
