English Ambassadors Explore Nature and Culture at Dr. Rey’s Farm

On 26th April 2025, the English Ambassadors enjoyed a fun and meaningful outing to Dr. Rey’s Farm, a countryside retreat owned by Dr. Rey, our school’s Native-speaking English Teacher (NET). The day offered students a chance to practise English in real-life situations while building teamwork, exploring culture, and connecting with nature.

The trip began with group games conducted in English, encouraging students to collaborate, share ideas, and solve problems—boosting their confidence and communication skills in a relaxed setting.

After the games, everyone gathered for a classic American-style BBQ, featuring hamburgers and hot dogs grilled by Ambassador 2B Aiden Kong, along with corn-on-the-cob, baked beans, and other tasty sides. The meal gave students a taste of American culture and a chance to chat in English in a casual, social environment.

The highlight of the day was the farming workshop, where students learned about sustainable agriculture and planted vegetables like eggplants, cucumbers, and corn. The session was conducted in English, giving students a chance to use the language while learning by doing.

More than just a day out, the trip helped students disconnect from city life, gain new skills, and use English in meaningful ways.

Distinguished Alumni Sharing Series – A Night of Wisdom, Camaraderie, and Inspiration

On 25th April 2025, our school came together for an unforgettable evening as part of the Distinguished Alumni Sharing Series, themed "Brotherhood: An Inspiring Journey with Medical Alumni." The event brought together esteemed medical professionals, alumni, parents, and students for an inspiring night of reflection, insight, and forward-thinking discussion.

Our honoured guests — Dr. Fan Ning (Class of 1987), Dr. Yuen Ka Ye Kenny (Class of 1989), and Prof. Chung Pui Hong (Class of 1989) — shared heartfelt stories about their time at SFXC, the brotherhood that shaped them, and how their alma mater influenced their remarkable careers in medicine. Their speeches were rich with nostalgia, wisdom, and encouragement for the next generation.

Guest hosts Mr. Lee Cheuk Him Trevor and Mr. Leung Wing Cheung Nathan (both Class of 2007) added a personal touch by sharing their own SFXC experiences, bridging the past and present with humour and heartfelt memories.

The "Future Horizons in Medicine" forum featured leading medical professionals discussing three pivotal topics: the realities of building a medical career, solutions to the challenges of an ageing population, and the transformative role of AI in healthcare — including both its potential and ethical considerations. Presented in practical terms, these insights offered valuable guidance for attendees ranging from students to healthcare practitioners.

The event received enthusiastic participation from alumni, parents, and students alike. Attendees found the discussions highly informative and deeply inspiring, leaving with fresh perspectives and renewed motivation for their academic and professional journeys.

We extend our deepest gratitude to our distinguished alumni and everyone who joined us in celebrating the enduring brotherhood of SFXC.

SFXC70 Pilgrimage and Study Tour to Rome and Lyon — A Journey of Faith and Brotherhood

As part of our School’s 70th Anniversary celebrations, 34 students, Brother John, and our staff members, embarked on a Marist Pilgrimage and Study Tour to Rome and Lyon from 12 to 21 April 2025, under the theme “Brotherhood – 70 Years and Beyond.”

This 10-day journey was a once-in-a-generation opportunity—the first of its kind in our School’s history. It coincided meaningfully with both the Catholic Holy Year 2025 and the Easter season, adding extraordinary spiritual depth and significance to the experience.

In Rome, students entered through the Four Holy Doors, a rare privilege granted only during Holy Years, and visited numerous sacred and historical sites, including St. Peter’s Square, the Vatican Museums, the Catacombs of San Callisto, and the Colosseum. These experiences offered a powerful connection to the universal Church and a deeper appreciation of its rich heritage and living faith

The second half of the pilgrimage brought the group to Lyon, France, the birthplace of the Marist mission. There, students explored the Four Marist Places—Le Rosey, La Valla, Les Maisonnettes, and Notre-Dame de l’Hermitage—accompanied and guided by the Marist Brothers. Each location revealed profound insights into the life and vision of St. Marcellin Champagnat, immersing our pilgrims in the enduring Marist values of faith, simplicity, humility, and family spirit.

One particularly moving moment occurred on the final night at the Hermitage, where our students and teachers presented their tour jackets to the Brothers as heartfelt souvenirs. This act of gratitude and shared brotherhood was warmly received and symbolized a lasting bond between our school community and the global Marist family.

Our special thanks go to all who made this journey possible—especially the Marist Brothers in Rome and Lyon for their hospitality and guidance, and to those behind the scenes who helped turn this vision into reality.

This pilgrimage was not just a journey through sacred lands, but a spiritual journey of reflection, connection, and renewal. It brought our students closer to the Marist story and inspired them to live out its values with renewed purpose—as we celebrate 70 remarkable years of Marist education and look ahead with hope.

National Security and Youth Development Forum" cum Greater Bay Area Youth Innovation and Exchange Programme

On 12–13 April 2025, ten of our students participated in the "National Security and Youth Development Forum" cum Greater Bay Area Youth Innovation and Exchange Programme, jointly organized by the Guangzhou Overseas Friendship Association, Nansha Overseas Friendship Association, Hong Kong Guangzhou Fellowship Association, and the Hong Kong Guangzhou Nansha Fellowship Association.

Over two days, students visited key innovation and cultural sites in Nansha, including Fok Ying Tung Memorial Hall (霍英東紀念館), the Tunnel Museum, and Innovation Bay (創享灣) — a startup hub for young entrepreneurs. They also explored advances in automotive technology at the GAC Technology Museum and toured the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (Guangzhou).

At the forum, students engaged in discussions on national security and youth responsibility, and visited the National Security Exhibition Hall to deepen their understanding.

A highlight of the trip was receiving a calligraphy scroll from a recognized inheritor of the Chinese Double-Outline Calligraphy (雙鉤書法) Intangible Cultural Heritage, featuring our school motto: "Gentle in Manner, Resolute in Action". This special gift symbolized the meaningful connection between our school’s values and Chinese cultural heritage.

The programme broadened our students’ horizons and inspired them to reflect on innovation, national development, and their role in the future.
