STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics) education has become a focus of the recent EDB curriculum reform. Catching this wave of educational trend, the school joined the mBot Workshop organized by the City University of Hong Kong. Our students from F.3 and F.5 participated in the robot assembling and programming activities with the objectives to program the robots to play soccer and move alone direction lines automatically. Our students really enjoyed the activities and the hands-on experience. The school will surely put together more STEM programs like this in the coming year.

On 20th May 2017, we celebrated the Silver Jubilee of Brother John’s Profession of Vows during a Thanksgiving Mass held at Our Lady of China Church. Dozens of our students and teachers attended the Mass and witnessed this joyful occasion first hand. Without catching the eyeballs of many, our humble Brother has already served education for 25 years. We thank him for his dedication and we will continue to pray for him to receive power ceaselessly to continue his work.
To nurture students’ learning interest and to enhance their creativity, collaboration and problem solving skills in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics), more than 30 F.4 Physics students were arranged to take a field trip to Ocean Park on 13th May 2017. There, they got the opportunity to apply their knowledge in Physics to understand and experience first-hand the mechanics behind the thrill rides! Through the rides, they collected data and took videos for movement analyses. Finally, in the workshops, students had to solve problems and create their own experiment using their knowledge in Physics. All in all, it was a fun, exciting and very educational experience.
