Chinese Culture Activity Days

On the 10th and 11th of July, all our junior form students enjoyed a number of Chinese cultural activities.

On the first day, the three junior forms took turns participating in a workshop where they learned about the history and specific features of the four famous ancient bridges. They worked in groups to build model bridges using only wooden sticks. They also had a hands-on classroom workshop on drawing Chinese masks (面譜), during which they learned about the different facial makeups and their meanings.

On the second day, they enjoyed various activities in the school hall, which was decorated as an ancient Chinese market. They were given ancient Chinese coins to use at different booths, experiencing activities such as iron art (鐵藝), Cuju (蹴鞠, an ancient Chinese ball game), Mushe (木射, a popular sport during the Tang dynasty), and making Chinese hand-pulled cotton candy (龍鬚糖). They were also given the chance to put on Hanfu, the traditional styles of clothing worn by Chinese people.

We hope that these activities have allowed our boys to learn more about the Chinese wisdom and culture in a fun way.

1-day Life Planning study trip to Huizhou 惠州

On July 10, 34 Form 4 and 5 students went on a one-day Life Planning study trip to Huizhou (惠州), which is part of the EDB’s Greater Bay Area Career Exploration Tours Programme.

Thanks to the programme, our boys had the privilege to visit an entrepreneurship base for Hong Kong and Macau youths (惠州仲愷港澳青年創業基地) and TCL Technology, a partially state-owned Chinese electronics company. Through these visits, they gained a better understanding of their career potential in the Greater Bay Area and the development of technology in mainland China.
